Why

Why Indian Entrepreneurs Must Focus on Developing Their Entrepreneurial Mindsets

Today, India is the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world, after the U.S. and China. There are more than 60,000 recognized startups in the country, including the 14,000 new startups formed last year. However, studies reveal that 80-90% of startups in India fail during the first five years of inception.

Most entrepreneurs focus on creating unique ideas, getting financial support, and developing a marketing strategy to promote their products. While these are essential, what they often forget is nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset. In my view, an entrepreneurial mindset is to think, feel, and act like an entrepreneur on a 24x7 basis. For that, entrepreneurship has to become a part of your natural "way of being." I'm delighted to work with you personally to build all the traits you need to succeed with an entrepreneurial mindset. Are Entrepreneurs Born or Made?

We all know that entrepreneurs are different from normal people. We usually call this phenomenon an "entrepreneurial mindset," which means entrepreneurs think differently. If you observe the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, their personality traits appear to be similar. Based on this, we can't say they have a similar biological make-up. You have to remember that none of us are born with all the characteristics of an entrepreneur. We all are born with certain traits, but as we grow up, we learn many things from the people around us and our role models. We can also nurture our missing traits through intentional learning and practice. This practice-based approach is the focus of my programs, and I can help you strengthen your weak areas and help you take maximum advantage of your innate traits.

Develop Your Entrepreneurial Traits

What are the Typical Internal Constraints to Become a Successful Entrepreneur?

When I ask my student entrepreneurs to list their challenges, I usually get a long list of external constraints which are mostly beyond their control. While they are true, they often forget the role of their internal constraints on their entrepreneurship.

EXTERNAL CONSTRAINTS

  • Market Conditions
  • Cash Flow
  • Ideas and Innovation
  • Product-Market Fit
  • Investor Expectations

How My Approach is Different?

Over the past 25 years, I have trained and coached organizational leaders and entrepreneurs in the U.S., Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. In my experience, most entrepreneurs consider having revolutionary ideas, planning, and executing their core competencies. However, they usually overlook developing the fundamental characteristics of entrepreneurs, and I believe there is a significant gap in our general awareness about entrepreneurship.

Here is a Partial List of the Essential Traits for Entrepreneurs

Innovation

Do you think you can be innovative only if you are intellectually smart? The modern view of innovation is more focused on empathy than your intelligence.

Influence

How can you influence the people surrounding you? Many entrepreneurs underestimate their power of influence, believing it is beyond their control.

Resilience

How can you navigate your enterprise through adversities? It's not your ability to plan and predict but the agility to deal with change and uncertainties.

Learning

Are you a life-long learner who distinguishes acquiring information from learning?  It is also important to befriend failures and see them as opportunities for learning.

Communication

How precise is your communication? Many entrepreneurs fall into the illusion that communication has taken place when it has not in reality.

Risk Appetite

Do you try to minimize or avoid taking risks? Remember that a ship in the harbor is safe, but that is not what it is built for. The same analogy applies to entrepreneurs.

Decision-Making

How can you improve the quality of decisions you make every day? Make sure you are not biased and can assess the risks involved in every decision.

Problem-Solving

How comfortable are you dealing with your problems? There is no single day without problems for the entrepreneur. The only choice you have is to befriend your problems.

Trust

Do you struggle to determine whom to trust or not in your relationships? It may seem complex unless you have a structured method to measure trust.
